Esta Conferência Internacional comemorativa do seu 30.º aniversário ao serviço de Portugal, teve lugar no dia 24 de junho de 2024, na Sala do Senado, da Assembleia da República, e em 2025 será publicado o Livro de Atas da Conferência.
A Conferência, organizada pela CNPD, contou com a participação de vários Presidentes de Autoridades e instituições europeias e internacionais, para refletir e debater o futuro da proteção de dados pessoais, sobretudo em face das oportunidades e desafios da proteção de dados pessoais e privacidade em ambiente digital, em especial, da inteligência artificial generativa.
O Vice-Presidente da Comissão de Assuntos Constitucionais, Direitos, Liberdades e Garantias, da Assembleia da República, Deputado Manuel Magno, fez as honras de abertura da sessão da Conferência, sendo acompanhado pela Presidente da CNPD, Paula Meira Lourenço.
O Painel de Oradores da manhã contou com as honrosas intervenções da Presidente do Comité Europeu de Proteção de Dados, Anu Talus, sob o tema “O papel central do Comité Europeu na garantia do direito à proteção de dados num universo de direitos digitais: convergências e dissonâncias”; da Diretora da Agência Espanhola de Proteção de Dados, Mar España Martí, intitulada “A proteção de dados pessoais das crianças e jovens em ambiente digital no sistema espanhol”; do Presidente da Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados de Cabo Verde, Faustino Varela Monteiro, sobre “Os desafios do estabelecimento de uma Autoridade de Proteção de Dados e a importância da cooperação”; e da Autoridade Europeia de Proteção de Dados, Wojciech Wiewiórowski, com a “Proteção de Dados e Democracia. Reflexões do EDPS”.
E o Painel de Oradores da tarde contou com as relevantes preleções da Relatora Especial da Organização das Nações Unidas (ONU) para o direito à privacidade, Ana Brian Nougrères, intitulada “A utilização das tecnologias como forma de discriminação”; da Comissária do Instituto Nacional de Transparência, Acesso à Informação e Proteção de Dados Pessoais do México (INAI), que detém a Presidência da Rede Ibero-americana de Proteção de Dados, Josefina Román Vergara, sob o tema “O fortalecimento da proteção de dados em contexto digital: os Standards de Proteção de Dados Pessoais para os Estados Ibero-americanos”; e terminou com o Investigador e Professor Associado do Instituto Superior Técnico da Universidade de Lisboa, Bruno Martins, sobre a “Proteção de Dados Pessoais na Era da Inteligência Artificial Generativa”.
O Presidente da Assembleia da República, Deputado José Pedro Aguiar-Branco, fez as honras de presidir à Sessão de Encerramento da Conferência Internacional, acompanhado pela Presidente da CNPD, Paula Meira Lourenço.

Title: The Portuguese Data Protection Supervisory Authority - CNPD celebrates its 31th anniversary remembering the importance of the International Conference “Personal Data Protection – what future are we building?”
Summary: This Conferences was organized by the CNPD commemorating its 30th anniversary serving Portugal, and took place on 2024, June 24th, at the Senate Room of the Portuguese Parliament. In 2025 the Conference Minutes Book will be published The Conference had the participation of several Presidents of European and international Authorities and institutions, reflecting and debating the future of personal data protection, especially in light of the opportunities and challenges of protecting personal data and privacy in a digital environment, in particular, of generative artificial intelligence. The Vice-President of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs, Rights, Freedoms and Guarantees, of the Portuguese Parliament, Deputy Manuel Magno, did the honors of opening the Conference session, accompanied by the President of the Portuguese Data Protection Supervisory Authority - CNPD, Paula Meira Lourenço.
The morning's Session of Speakers featured the honorable interventions of the Chair of the European Data Protection Board (EDPB), Anu Talus, under the theme “The key-role of the EDPB in upholding the right to data protection within the context of digital rights: convergences and dissonances”; by the Director of the Spanish Data Protection Supervisory Authority, Mar España Martí, entitled “The personal data of children and young people in the digital environment in the Spanish system”; by the President of the National Data Supervisory Authority of Cape Verde, Faustino Varela Monteiro, on “The challenges of setting up a Data Protection Authority and the importance of cooperation”; and the European Data Protection Authority (EDPS), Wojciech Wiewiórowski, with “Data Protection and Democracy. Reflections from the EDPS”.
And the afternoon's Panel of Speakers featured relevant lectures, such as the United Nations`s (UN) Special Rapporteur for the Right to Privacy, Ana Brian Nougrères, entitled “The use of technologies as a way of discrimination”; by the Commissioner of the National Institute of Transparency, Access to Information and Personal Data Protection of Mexico (INAI), which holds the Presidency of the Ibero-American Network for Data Protection, Josefina Román Vergara, under the theme “The strengthening of data protection in the digital context: the Standards for Personal Data Protection for Ibero-American States”; and ended with the Researcher and Associate Professor at the Instituto Superior Técnico of the University of Lisbon, Bruno Martins, on the “Personal Data Protection in the Era of Generative Artificial Intelligence”.
